Women Empowerment:

PHOOLEEN as an organisation was set-up for the development of women folk in the area as the prime stake holder. In the changing scenario of under developed global women, Jharkhand is also facing a lot of odds which is prevailing since over the years. Women are ignored and never been counted as equal status compare to the male folk in the state. In the targeted area the community which are belong to the backward, Tribal, Minority, and the excluded communities which are having their social, cultural and traditional barriers which make them not to be streamlined in all aspects of their lives. PHOOLEEN being an organisation which is primarily working for the uplift of women also have responsiveness to make them with appropriate knowledge and skills to enjoy their equal rights and entitlements.

In light of the above situation we arbitrate with the following activities to mainstream the women folk.

Women Empowerment & Governance:

  • Capacity building of the elected women PRI leaders.
  • Formation and functioning of (Jagruk Mahila Samities) Womens resource group at village and panchyat level.
  • Awareness Generation for creating an enabling environment through organizing events on special occasions.
  • Strengthening Community Redressal for prevent and responding to domestic Violence.
  • Networking and Alliance Building from micro level to State level.
  • Policy Advocacy and lobbying with Medias, department of health, WCD, Police and Judiciary.

Mainstreaming Minority and Dalit women on demand driven Zari- Embroidery and appliqué based hand craft production and marketing in cluster based approach.


  • Uplift of 555 rural artisans through vocational training for their livelihood security under the trade zari embroidery on readymade garments. And the project supported by Ministry of Textile, Department of Handicraft Government of India.

The following activities are being under taken in the project:

  • Diagnostic survey of artisans in the identified cluster and analyze the needs for specific intervention for sustaining the cluster based approach.
  • Social motivation and mobilization of the identified beneficiaries.
  • Formation and strengthening the existing SHG group of the artisans according to the standardized parameter.
  • Issue based awareness amongst the members on health, Education, NRM and sustainable livelihood opportunity and options.
  • Face to face interaction and convergence with different Govt. and other service providing institutions.
  • Opening of the formed SHG Bank Account.
  • Formation of the cluster of the group.
  • Formation of a strong network of the SHGs into Federation.
  • Baseline survey & need assessment for the technological implications and interventions.

Intermediate Results year Wise:


  • Profiling of 555 rural artisans for ID card, Enrolment under Jan Shree Bima Yojna & Rajiv Gandhi Shilpi Swasth Bima Yojna. 32 Self help groups of artisans formed and are functioning. Ensured Benefits to artisans under Health Insurance Scheme. Baseline Diagnostic survey completed and reports submitted. Focus Group discussion and large group discussion held. Report with next year intervention plan submitted.


  • Four months Skill Up-gradation Training to 160 Artisans.
  • Fifteen Days Design Development training to 150 artisans.


  • Four months Skill Up-gradation Training in 6 batches to 120 Artisans.
  • Two Exhibitions for promotion and Sale of handicraft product at Dumka & Asansol (W.B)
  • Fifteen Days Design Development training to 90 artisans.
  • Entrepreneurship Development Programme for 100 artisans.
  • Tool kit to 100 artisans.
  • Publication of Brochure.
  • Registration of federation under Companies Act.

Proposed Intervention plan for Year-IV

  • Four months Skill Up-gradation Training in 6 batches.
  • Two Exhibitions for promotion and Sale.
  • Fifteen Days Design Development training in 3 batches.
  • Entrepreneurship Development Programme for 40 artisans.
  • Tool kit to 40 artisans.
  • Exposure visit for 50 Artisans.
  • Publication of Catalogue.
  • Market Survey.

The honourable union State Minister for Textile Ms. Panabaka Laxmi Visited the cluster and motivated Artisans:  

Legal Rights of Women in Light of Constitution and Law.

  • Under the support of National Commission of Women (NCW) Legal Awareness camps are being organised and women leaders of community organisations were gained knowledge and skills on constitutional safeguards for women. /li>

Leadership Development Training for Minority Women:

  • Under the support of Ministry of minority affairs, Govt. of India the organisation imparting training on leadership development of minority women. 300 women belongs to minority are to be enrolled and trained during the year 2012-13. The trainings are to be started in the month of September-2013 and shall be completed till December-2013.
